We’re looking for our data and financial MVP, who will play a critical role in driving informed decision-making and contributing to the organization’s overall success.
Key Responsibilities:
As a Financial Analyst on our team, you’ll be at the heart of the action. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling to support business planning and strategic decision-making.
- Gather and analyze data about our key events and activities including attendance, consumer spending, pricing strategies and other data that help us develop and deliver an exciting calendar of events.
- Prepare reports, presentations and dashboards that effectively communicate findings and variance reports to key stakeholders, including Senior Management, Executive Committees and Board of Directors.
- Identify and assess financial risks, propose mitigation strategies, and support the implementation of risk management initiatives to safeguard the financial health and stability of the organization.
- Create financial models to inform and influence the financial, economic and business conditions facing SJSEL
- Work with the SJSEL Management team to develop, report and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
To be our MVP in this role, you’ll need the following:
- A bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role, demonstrating strong financial analysis and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in financial modeling, pricing, budgeting, forecasting and data analysis
- Experience using Microsoft Office product suite with proficiency using Excel.
- Minimum of five (5) years experience

As a Corporate & Community Partnerships Manager on our team, you’ll be at the heart of the action. Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage and support a portfolio of corporate and community-based partnerships
- Build strong and trusted business relationships with clients through regular and pro-active contact – continually seeking to elevate the partnership.
- Oversee and execute all activities as it relates to the sales of advertising inventory including rate card development, development of new opportunities and contract negotiations.
- Take the lead role in the negotiation of all major corporate partnerships and develop new opportunities, benefits and servicing for current and new partners on behalf of SJSEL.
- Develop a deep and thorough understanding of the partner’s business and competitive environment to continually deliver against business objectives for both the partner and SJSEL.
- Contribute to the development and execution of creative, integrated marketing solutions that deliver against partner objectives and work with SJSEL’s tenants to drive affinity in the marketplace.
- Identify, develop, and nurture community partnerships with community organizations, the not-for-profit sector, and others that are aligned with SJSEL’s commitment to social and economic development.
- Demonstrate resilience and adapt to evolving plans and strategies; where conflicting issues on partnerships arise, you have the ability to find solutions along with the internal team and know when to escalate to the CEO for resolution.
- Researching, prospecting, cultivating and managing relationships with key partners in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors.
- Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
To be our MVP in this role, you’ll need the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations or related discipline.
- Progressive experience in the areas of Marketing, Strategy and/or Partnership Marketing with at least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
- Strong project management skills
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience managing budgets.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, comfortable with public speaking and media.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally.
- Shown to perform well under pressure and willing to take initiative.
- Experience using Microsoft Office product suite with proficiency using Power Point.
- Experience using Canva would also be an asset.

We’re seeking a temporary Carpenter/Maintenance (temporary) person to be a crucial player in our dynamic organization, where we host an exciting year-round schedule of events that uplift and enrich our community. At St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. (SJSEL), we’re not just a sports, tourism, conventions and entertainment organization. We’re a dedicated team who channel our passion into every facet of our work as we create and host exceptional experiences for a global audience.
We’re looking for our carpentry and building maintenance MVP, who will join the organization for a minimum of six months from April to September and may be extended until the incumbent returns. The successful candidate for this position must be a member of CUPE Local 5459 or should be prepared to join the union immediately upon appointment. This position will report to the Manager of Building Operations. This position will assist with ensuring the successful execution of world-class musical, sports, business, cultural, and family entertainment and conferences taking place at Mary Brown’s Centre and the St. John’s Convention Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties of this position will include, but not limited to:
- Performing necessary carpentry work as required at Mary Brown’s Centre and the St. John’s Convention Centre.
- Operating the ice resurfacing machine along with conducting daily ice maintenance and/or forklift as required
- Performing renovations as required.
- Performing regularly scheduled preventative maintenance.
- Prepare estimates for work orders and request materials required to complete jobs.
- Performing necessary building maintenance work as it pertains to Mary Brown’s Centre and St. John’s Convention Centre.
- Being part of an effective work planning process that utilizes work orders and planning
- Loading, unloading and identifying building materials, machinery and tools and distribute them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans and specifications
- Performing all work assignments safely in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Regulations that apply to this work and other related legislation, St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. standards, and quality checks
- Ensuring safety, good housekeeping and quality standards are maintained
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate should possess:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Specific Skills/Certifications
- Must be a red seal Carpenter or be prepared to successfully complete an educational upgrade to obtain an Interprovincial Carpenter Red Seal.
- Must have at time of hire and continue to maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a safe driving record.
- Have a general understanding of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering and mechanical repairs of machinery.
- Demonstrated ability, knowledge, and skills necessary to effectively perform maintenance and repairs to various equipment and systems.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out verbal and written instructions accurately and quickly and to deal with people in a tactful, diplomatic manner.
- Participate in all training programs applicable to this position and other related work (ie. fall protection and forklift training).
Relevant Experience
- A Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the Construction Industry with finished carpentry experience.
Other
- Candidates possessing an equivalent combination of education and experience that is deemed acceptable by St. John’s Sports & Entertainment Ltd. may be considered.
- Certificate of Conduct must be provided
