Avalon Expo 15: Fall/Halloween Comic Con Brings Pop-Culture Fans Together in Celebration!
Tanoshimi Creative, the team behind pop-culture events across Newfoundland and beyond, is thrilled to welcome the return of Avalon Expo to the St. John’s Convention Centre, taking place October 31–November 2. This exciting event celebrates anime/Japanese culture, sci-fi, gaming, cosplay, and all things pop culture in a vast, vibrant space.
Headlining Guests Include:
- Alyson Court and Fred Stinson — Best known as Loonette and Major Bedhead from The Big Comfy Couch. Alyson has voiced beloved characters such as Lydia in the Beetlejuice animated series, Claire Redfield in the Resident Evil franchise, and Jubilee in X-Men: The Animated Series. Fred’s puppeteering credits include work on the Chucky films, The Thing (2011), and Groundling Marsh, among others.
- Gianni Matragrano — Voice actor for Boyang in Genshin Impact, Stalker in Warframe, and countless other projects (and memes!).
- ZM Thomas — Comic book writer and creator.
Enjoy themed dances on Friday and Saturday nights, a huge vendor floor featuring artists, crafters, and authors, the largest traveling board game library in Atlantic Canada, plus video games, puzzles, panels, workshops, and the spectacular costume contest on Sunday.
Adding to the excitement are appearances from groups such as the 501st Legion Star Wars Cosplayers, Sandbox Gaming, Retro Tech NL, and the Newfoundland Furry and Anthro Society, among others.

- Enter via SJCC Main Doors or Delta Pedway.
- Parking is not offered for this event. However, there is tons of parking downtown — no need to warp pipe in or summon a dragon.
- Concessions will be open while the vendor floor is — but heads-up: it’s a cashless setup! Bring your card or contactless payment option for payment. No gold pieces accepted. 😉
- This is an all ages event.
- This event is accessible. The show welcomes wheelchairs, mobile scooters, canes, etc.
- We love the costumes and can’t wait to see your creativity! Just a quick reminder: all guests must be fully clothed to enter the venue. Thanks for helping us keep things fun and comfortable for everyone!
- For everyone’s safety, there is a Prop/Weapons Check Station on site at which all props resembling weapons will be checked and tagged. Real weapons are not permitted.
